Mr. Henry Wang, is dedicated to promoting cross-border investments between China and the U.S., China and Portugal, as well as Portugal and the U.S. He is also the blogger behind the “Chinese American Moving to Portugal” social media channel, actively presenting and promoting Portugal objectively to Chinese audiences worldwide, with the aim of attracting more overseas investors to Portugal.
As a renowned expert in Sino-American cross-border investments with over 25 years of experience in international trade and multinational investments, Mr. Wang graduated from Columbia University’s EMBA program in 2003 before relocating to Portugal. Prior to his move, he served as the President of the Los Angeles China Investment Promotion Center.
During his tenure as the Los Angeles County China Chief Representative for Investment and Trade, Mr. Wang played a crucial role in significant investment projects, such as assisting Shenzhen New World Group in acquiring the Los Angeles Marriott Hotel, establishing BYD’s North American headquarters and an E-bus production base in Los Angeles County, as well as facilitating GreenLand Center and Synear Group’s acquisitions of Nestlé’s factory in Los Angeles County and a prominent sports nutrition company, respectively. Having personally experienced and been involved in the largest wave of Chinese investment in the history of U.S.-China relations, these investment cases continue to have a profound impact on Chinese companies investing in the United States. Simultaneously, he actively dedicates himself to facilitating the introduction of American Hi-Tech technology and projects to China. He played a key role in the early stages of significant projects, including communication and coordination with potential strategic partners for the China Commercial Aircraft (COMAC) C919 project, initial negotiation linkage for the California High-Speed Rail project.
Before serving as the Chief Representative for Investment and Trade in Los Angeles County, Mr. Wang served as an investment promotion consultant to various U.S. government agencies, including the California State, San Bernardino County, and City of Ontario. He successfully facilitated several important cooperation projects between Chinese and American local governments, including arranging Governor Schwarzenegger’s historic visit to China in 2005, the Guangzhou-Los Angeles-Oakland Tri-City Economic Alliance, and Mayor Garcetti’s visit to China. During this period, he also assisted Chinese companies in exporting products worth three billion U.S. dollars to the American market, widely covered by the Shenzhen Commercial Daily and Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.
